What. A. Year. We know it's very fashionable to talk about how terrible 2020 has been, to focus on the tragedy and meanness. But here's the thing about life - just because there's bad shit doesn't mean that there can't be greatness too. Early on we made a commitment to ourselves and each other to find the good in this year, to keep celebrating love, and to let the chaos refine rather than distract our priorities.

And wow, we succeeded.

In true BAE arts + crafts style, K attempted block printing for the first time. Here's the outcome, and a key for understanding our modern petroglyphs.

1. The Florida 🌴 Keys

It had been over eight and a half years since Kennedy had been to the Florida Keys...or seen her sister Brooke 😳🙈. This was finally remedied in 2020 ❤️ . It required some extra precautions to stay safe, but was invaluable in a year that has taught us so much about family. Sister beach brunches, nature walks, people watching on Duval, a proper tropical thunderstorm - truly everything we hoped for and more!

2. Leap Day 📽️ Show + Tell 📣

L+K hosted a leap day show and tell. With the pandemic looming on the horizon, it was a hybrid event with some guests attending remotely and others in person. Our talented friends amazed us: the unveiling of the Jeffedy, hand-imported olive oil, canine-human communication, poker chip tricks. This special event quickly became even more nostalgic for us - the following day, March 1, we began our self-quarantine in advance of the shutdown orders that would follow a couple of weeks later.

3. The suBAEru

Our Outback has seen a lot of landscape this year - New Years Day we drove from New Mexico into California, a prelude of the travels to come. Since May we have been living in various locations 1-2 months at a time. Everything that comes with us has to fit into the car and cargo box 😳.

Leaving San Francisco! This is also one of the last photos of L's bike. K accidentally destroyed it with a carport roof when they returned to Joshua Tree at the end of July.

4. Palm 🌴 Springs

Our home for the month of September, where we lived in a condo next door to the pool, survived a heatwave of 122 degrees, and got to host our mom's to come visit! It was a non-stop, yet relaxing, long weekend of art, pools, and laughter.

5. The Russian 🌲 River in Guerneville, California

Guerneville was home for June and July thanks to our friends, Allen + Travis, and it was a quintessential summer for the ages. We discovered our favorite riverside beaches (usually requiring trekking down a hidden roadside trail), picked blackberries and plums from our yard and the neighborhood, and had many does and their fawns photobomb our work calls.
